Okmulgee, OK – The My Brother’s Keeper Muscogee Nation (MBKMN) announced the joining of the SONS of Mvskoke. MBKMN will lead policy and advocacy initiatives directly connected to the SONS of Mvskoke community — 10 to 18 year-olds who need additional support focused on entering school ready to learn and staying safe from violent crime. Thanks to relationships with My Brother’s Keeper Alliance, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, and Glenpool Creek Indian Community, SONS of Mvskoke and MBKMN will work together to create pathways for all Tribal youth across Oklahoma.
Monte Randall, SONS of Mvskoke CEO, stated “MBK Muscogee Nation is a great partner and will provide valuable insights and resources for community relations, services, and cultural practices of education through the College of the Musocgee Nation.”
MBK Muscogee Nation was established in 2014 upon acceptance of the Call to Action by President Obama to improve outcomes and address persistent opportunity gaps and challenges to ensure all young people of color can reach their full potential in America. As part of the MBK Alliance the partnership will advance the SONS of Mvskoke, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, and the College of the Musocgee Nation as a hub of equity and upward economic mobility in their community. Our vision is for every Tribal Nation to be a catalyst for equitable, and economically vibrant communities.
We know that with the right partner and the right approach, community orgranizations, Tribal Nations, and Tribal Colleges can drive safe communities, college and trade school completion rates, and employment outcomes — so that all citizens can prosper with a meaningful career, a stable home, and a happy life.
